‘I’ve got a long, long telescope that can see right into your home, and I’ll know just what you’ve been saying and doing.’ This is what the teacher told the kids in Red Yellow Blue Kindergarten. This sentence sounds like a beautiful fairytale that full of imagination, but actually it is a malicious incantation that makes people thrilling.
On November 23, a lot of conspicuous news were published on the websites. The titles are “Beijing Red Yellow Blue Kindergarten injected the brown liquid to the kids! child molestation!”, “One of the Kindergartens in Beijing injected to the children, fed unknown medicine to the children and let children stood in corner with naked body”.
A lot of parents reflected that the Red Yellow Blue Kindergarten injected to the kids, and there are several needle eyes on their bodies. When they asked their kids, the kids said there are two boys and a girl stood in corner with naked bodies and some kids have suffered from obscenity. According to the description from the parents, the kids said they went to a room and there are “Doctor Grandpa” and “Doctor Uncle”, they let them took off their clothes and check-up with both naked bodies. The parents were full of indignation, but now they feel more worry about what did their children ate, what has been injected into their bodies and the sequela that might exist.
According to data from Child Sexual Abuse Statistics:
- Self-report studies show that 20% of adult females and 5-10% of adult males recall a childhood sexual assault or sexual abuse incident;
- During a one-year period in the U.S., 16% of youth ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized;
- Over the course of their lifetime, 28% of U.S. youth ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized;
But actually there are lots more cases that haven’t been exposed yet. What you have known about child molestation as only the tip of the iceberg.

There are a lot of movies that are talking about child molestation. Such as Hope and The Crucible. The Crucible is about child molestation that happened in the school for deaf-mutes. Hope is about a little girl that has suffered from child molestation and how she come out of the unlucky shadow.
Why child molestation has become even more violent? The reason is that most of the children haven’t learn about sex education, they don’t know how to protect themselves. The most worst thing is that they even didn’t realize what happened when they have suffered from sex assault. In the movie Hope, the girl saw a drunkard in a rainy day. The man tried to borrow an umbrella from her. The girl was kind so she agreed, and this caused the serious consequence.

There is a book called Fang Siqi’s love paradise and this book tells about the girl that have suffered sex assault from her teacher. This was the personal experience of the author. After the book has published, the author suicided. One of the part in this book that shocked me most is when the teacher forced the girl and tried to abuse her, the girl said: “I don’t know how to do this” instead of “I don’t want to do this”. What made she said that? She used a mild tone and she thought that the teacher was right. She wanted the teacher be satisfy with her and never thought about herself. She even thought that she was wrong. These are all because they don’t have concept that they need to protect themselves.
Schools should start sex education in kindergarten. The kids should have a basic idea and concept about the sex education. They should know how to protect themselves. At before, there are a lot of victims of child molestation that could not described what has happened to them correctly and this influenced detected the cases. So it is important to let the children know sexual organs. Sex education is also a subject, same as Maths and English. It has its own terminology, definition and system info.
How society could prevent child molestation?
Sex education should be continuously proceed as the age of kids keeps growing. It should start at about 3 years old until adolescence. Here are some tips that parents need to notice:
1.Sex education should be taught by parents. If parents don’t teach their children, children will still get the information from other place or people, it would out of control.
2. Don’t use your own view to treat the behavior of your children. Don’t blow self-respect of your children and don’t enhance the sense of shame of your children.
3. Try to find out the sexual knowledge that your children already known.
4. Teach the sexual knowledge to your children candidly. It will lose the sense of trust if you cheat your children and they will think that you won’t give the true answer.
5. Let children have sex education is to help them model a correct values but not children can grasp how much knowledge.
A parent of a 7 years old student complained the sexual knowledge textbook on Weibo. She said she cannot read over it and query the content in the book. It is reported that the book is called elementary school students sexual health education textbook. One of the pictures in the book let parents feel uncomfortable with. Actually it is normal and it helps to educate children that they need to refuse other when someone trying to touch their private part.
Vice-president told the journalist that, When the school set down this program, they’ve considered from the view of expert and education. Now, the textbook have been take back, they will decide if they are continue using this textbook after communicate with the parents. A famous Chinese sexologist Peng Xiaohui is one of the editorial board member of this controversial textbook. He said they are very strict when editing the textbook and there is no problem with the content in the textbook. It should be the systematicness textbook and be taught to the students.
When the journalist come to a grade 5 class in Beijing, they saw teacher was using this textbook to teach the students about sexual knowledge. The children listened carefully and the atmosphere in the class was nice.
Parents are too shy to speak out become the most important reason that makes the sex education develop difficultly. It is important to let the children have sex education for their safety. Everyone should change your minds and contribute to protect the sex safety of the children.
